TENNANT CREEK - WONARAH BORE - CAMOOWEAL

Left Tennant Creek on Tuesday 2/10 and drove up the Sturt Highway to the Three Ways and turned down the Barkly Highway on the way to Wonarah Bore.  The weather was hot but very windy so fuel consumtion was not great. Stopped at Barkly Homestead for some lunch and drove through a small bushfire which was burning up to the road.    Stopped at the Wonarah Bore which is a free camp, for the night.   This is the same place we stopped on the way out but there were very few people staying there.  The next morning we drove onto Camooweal Billabong a free camp which is 18km across the Northern Territory/Queensland border.    Just before the border we encountered a 15km stretch of roadworks.
They had a detour alongside the road which was in dreadfull condition with rocks, corrugations and dust the car and caravan got a real shake up.    Just after we got through this rough road we realised that we had a flat tyre on the 4WD, so we limped into Camooweal as we knew the RACQ man there ( He had fixed our last puncture on the way out).   He was out on a job at the time so we pulled into his yard and changed the tyre and then went and parked at the Billabong.    We had this tyre fixed the next day.     We were still having trouble with the frig in the 4WD so we turned it off until we could get to Mount Isa where there was another Evakool repair man.   There were not as many campers there this time but every night there was at least 5-6 other campers there and just as many cows wandering around.   The billabong is about 4km long and there are campsites all along it
Camooweal was so relaxing we stayed there until the following Monday when we headed to Mount Isa.
As we are retracing our steps at this time, there are very few photo's.
 Large birds at the billabong
A view of some of the campsites
Ready to leave the billabong
