OAKEY CREEK RESERVE TO JUDD'S LAGOON

Our trip from Oakey Creek to Judd's Lagoon (which is 50km from Roma) was uneventful, but the road was quite rough for a highway.   I think maybe the recent floods may be to blame for some of it.   Judd's Lagoon turned out to be the best free camp so far.   It was so quiet and lovely. We were able to camp beside the lagoon in full sun so that our solar panels were up to full strength, but there were plenty of trees for shade.
Judd's has a pit toilet and picnic tables but all were very clean and well maintained by the council.
The first day we just set up and walked around to meet the other campers (There were 5 other campers).   On the second day we set up Ozpig, cut some wood with the chainsaw, and cooked a casserole for tea, it turned out great.
We invited Ray and Bev over for afternoon tea in front of the Ozpig.   We had been talking to them on and off all day as Ray had a Brother 6 needle embroidery machine in the back of his table top ute and he was interested in digitising.   On the third day we cooked a damper in the Ozpig, it was not bad but we did not have enough hot coals to put on the lid, so we finished it off in the oven.
It was quite edible.

The weather has been very cold overnight with temperatures between 0deg and -3deg, and without a heater it has even made Bob put on trackpants a coat and beanie.    When the sun came up the days were sunny and warm.   We would certainly recommend this camp and will return to it if we are in the area again.
